KNOW THE PERSONALITY OF YOUR CAMERA

Know the Personality of Your Camera

Written by Nasrul Eam
$2.99

Can you imagine a sketch from a person who had never before held a pencil in his life? Can you imagine an English man writing Chinese, who doesn’t even know a single alphabet of that language? Isn’t it also ridiculous to imagine that if one bought a camera and always left it in auto mode, they would always get a nice photograph?

Auto mode, in today’s cameras, can give an exposure. You can call it a snapshot; you can call it a moment; but you cannot call it a photograph, which has an artistic touch. Knowing the camera without its personality will not benefit the photographer, eventually he will realize that there are factors, which make the camera what it is to be an artistic tool. The article sheds light on these to let you explore the concept from its core.

With our minds, we see each element around us uniquely, based on our own previous experiences and tendencies. Our perspectives reflect in our photography, and this relationship reflects in how and where we position ourselves with the subject.

One of the key elements of photography is perspective, which differentiates a photograph as artistic and not a ‘snap’. Perspective helps us to create composition with an aesthetic appeal. By using the concept of perspective, a good photographer can photograph the sense of depth in the frame. Controlling the perspective can be a powerful tool for photography, which is often determine by the choice of different focal lengths. This article will help you learn these.

In Search of Aesthetic Perspective

Written by Nasrul Eam
$2.99

If photography is just about clicking, then even a four-year-old child, using an automated camera, could create images better than anyone else. However, taking a better photograph needs knowledge. Knowledge about the subject, the camera and lenses that you use, and at the end how you use them.

Think about those works of master photographers like Ansel Adam and Eliot Porter, who give photography a total different perspective. Looking at their work, we can feel how majestic they are, even though many of them are just classic. The nature they chose, the landmarks, the stands of trees, waterfalls, mountains, and the tall cliffs – their choice of subject was really simple, but the majesty is in their perspective, and how they use and controlled it. This article will let you learn about these perspectives and how to use them.

Explore through the Lens

Written by Nasrul Eam
$2.99

For more than a century, we have been honing techniques for capturing moments through the lens, with the art of light and shadow, in order to establish a connection with our viewers.

Putting the frame around the everyday happenings and preserving those split seconds often come with stories, stories that have all the flux of lives that we see around us. Presenting a story needs to be presented chaos free, so that it can stand out from the rest, but at the same time our understanding should be chaos free too, when we explore through the lens.

From black and white to color, digital or traditional film, no matter whichever photography you do, it is always the contrast of an image that grabs the attention of its viewer. Not only contrast adds dimension to your capture, but it beautifully enhances the look of your subject, gives it a sense of true life, and a well-structured story with depth.

There is no doubt that the secret of good photography depends greatly on light and composition, and your solid understanding of technical aspects such as proper aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and even the depth of field, but contrast is one of the keys that keeps your photographs from looking flat.

In this guide we are going to learn how to capture photographs with good contrast, and explain what makes color sensation increase in strength, and what determines the ideal exposure on the built-in light meter.

The moment the sun sets into the furthest horizon, the day ends in that side of this earth, the night begins, and that’s when all our artificial lights start glowing, giving us some majestic time to photograph. Night photography is all about those lights that mark our presence on this earth, in thousands of ways, in more than thousands of perspectives.

Sometimes we just want to photograph the night sky, the moon and the starts, then sometimes landmarks, the known architectures that illuminate boldly to announce the advancement of our civilization. At times, we want to photograph the traffic trails on the busiest roads, or just to paint lights as we envision; there are countless possibilities.

In this guide we are going to learn techniques that make your night photography looks artistic, which stands out from the rest.

It is where you walk through the deep green groves, or stand at the edge of the crystal clear lake, which takes a week or even a month to reach. It is about reaching the highest mountain on earth, or lying under the desert sky at night with millions of stars – it is our zeal for discovering the world beyond everyday life, it is how we feel the connection when we are there, and become a part of it.

The excitement of exploring through the ever-changing, ever-constant natural world lasts for a lifetime. We often recall those wonderful moments that we experienced in the wilderness. A Photographer’s Guide to Light Metering

Light that gets reflected from the object measures by the sensor of our cameras. It measures the intensity of that light to determine the optimal exposure – the correct shutter speed and aperture that it should have, depending on the amount of light we let in and the sensitivity of the sensor that we set. It helps photographers capture the near to perfect exposure with perfect balance of light and dark areas in the frame.

It is the metering mode of our camera, which helps us creatively control our exposure to get an accurately expose photograph without doing any post-processing.

From Matrix or Evaluative, Center-weighted to Spot, or the Partial and the new Highlight-weighted metering, there are options to choose from, and there are ways to get the best result using them, each that works differently with the reflected light. In this guide we are going to learn different camera metering modes that we use for nature, landscape, portrait, street, documentary, or even close-up and food photography.
